With this in mind, the designer created a space that embodies simplicity while ensuring all essentials are in place. Open to the designer’s ideas, the client embraced a modern-contemporary approach to the home’s design.
Rohini Bagla, Founder of Studio Rohini Bagla, took a meticulous approach to this project, using wall mouldings and wall lights as signature elements to build a unique and inviting atmosphere. These features not only add charm and character to the space but also serve as focal points, setting the tone for the entire home. Working within the tight parameters of a 620 sqft area, the designer smartly used minimal furniture and light colors to visually expand the space, making it feel larger and airier. The subtle interplay of light hues, combined with strategically placed lighting and mouldings, transformed this compact home into an inviting and visually spacious environment.

Designing a 2 BHK within a 620 sqft area—comprising two bedrooms, a living and dining area, a kitchen, and two bathrooms—was no easy feat. The master bedroom was designed with a bed, wardrobe, study table, and TV unit, all seamlessly integrated to keep the space sleek and uncluttered. The real challenge, however, came with the design of the kids’ room. Smaller than the master, this room needed to accommodate two beds, wardrobes, and allow for free movement. The designer ingeniously solved this by incorporating low-profile pull-out beds and a study area that spanned the length of the room. This clever use of space kept the room functional while maintaining an open, airy feel. Despite the size constraints, the designer ensured the room was both practical and visually appealing, a clever balance of form and function.

The design team, fully aware of the limited space, approached the project with a keen eye for maximizing every inch. Their goal was not just to fit everything in, but to create the illusion of a larger space. And they succeeded. Custom-built furniture, wardrobes, and beds were crafted on-site, ensuring every element was tailored to the space. Lighter tones, achieved through the use of PU coatings, contributed to the sense of openness and airiness, making the space feel expansive despite its compact size.
Throughout the home, there is a seamless flow, where every detail is thoughtfully curated. The living room features a sofa wall adorned with intricate mouldings, adding depth and sophistication without overwhelming the space. In the master bedroom, the bed wall is designed with clean lines and an understated English aesthetic that exudes timeless elegance. Even the kids’ room, despite its size, is a model of smart design, with the headboard strategically placed to enhance the room’s sense of space.

All the client’s needs—whether it was a shoe unit, crockery cabinet, dining area, sofa, or TV—were integrated without sacrificing the feeling of openness. The carefully chosen color palette, light and soothing, ties the entire space together, creating an atmosphere that feels both tranquil and inviting. The result is a home that is as stylish as it is functional, maximizing every square foot while maintaining a sense of warmth and comfort.
