Ministry of Crab is a Sri Lankan brand honored as one of Asia’s top 50 restaurants for the previous years, and now opens in Chengdu looking forward to serve more customers and embrace more business opportunities. There are two stories with the ground floor serving as the bar and the first as the restaurant.
The design of the bar we mainly focus on concepts. We want to create a free and trendy place that is also a special and memorable part on Jiaozi Avenue. We have incorporated the wings of the archangel to support the entire first storey and make it the highlight of the whole space. The specially designed illumination makes the wings come alive, which seem about to take flight, and makes the bar versatile and dramatic .
We decided not to block the view with any additional elements as the restaurant on the first storey enjoys plenty of natural light and a good view of the Twin Towers. Instead, we created a shell-shaped ceiling which is decorated with a stand-alone illumination device. BOX·MOC stands out on Jiaozi Avenue as the entire ceiling is lit up and the building’s exterior part appears translucent and exquisite.
