For Stuttgart-based furniture manufacturer Richard Lampert, we developed a practical and sustainable saddlebag for the desk that keeps your workplace organised. The storage object and office accessory is made from washable vegan paper and is set to premiere at Milan Design Week 2024 in the Brera Design District.

Whether you’re working at a small desk in a home office, at a hot desk in a co-working space or in a large office landscape at company headquarters, the problem is always the same: where to put all your untidy cables, adapters, headphones, maybe even pen and notebook? Our answer: SALTO. A storage solution for every desk.

SALTO balances on the edge of the table like a casual saddlebag. The soft and flexible bag docks nonchalantly onto the minimalist, architectural Eiermann tables by Richard Lampert. And onto any other table too, of course.

On the desk there is a tray for your mobile phone and pens, glass of water or espresso cup. The capacious pocket that hangs next to the desk provides space for a power strip, charging cables and sketchbook – basically everything you need for digital and analogue work. An additional inner pocket keeps all smaller office utensils within easy reach. An open loop forms the base of the saddlebag, so only a single neat cable emerges to plug into a wall socket. A playful, practical companion for everyday work. And thanks to the innovative choice of material, it is as sustainable as it is durable.

The material is a washable vegan paper from Germany that is used as a leather substitute in the fashion industry. This natural fibre solution is 70% organic and certified according to OEKO-TEX® and FSC® standards. It is both tear-resistant and washable. SALTO is completely “made in Germany”.

In addition to practicality, the look and feel are also quite exceptional. Tidiness is personal and individual, digital infrastructure changes over time, SALTO adapts to both of these. SALTO is soft and supple to the touch. Through use, the material gradually develops visible and tangible signs of wear. This is a conscious statement, however: a workplace companion that proudly shows how much it is used and valued – now and for a long time to come.
