Perched mid-height at the heart of Covent Garden, our clients’ international law firm offices extend to 2 large terraces which provide 300 sqm of usable outdoor space. With the firm relocating its headquarters from the Far East to London, we had a tight deadline to complete the roof garden works in time for the midsummer grand opening. Staff meetings & client hosting enjoy a wealth of bespoke planters, mature topiary & specimen trees, atop diverse seating areas, furniture & benches, where each activity is allocated its dedicated roof garden space.

Olive, Birch, Palm & Pine trees in varying styles, Lavender, Daisies, Box hedging & Box ball topiaries provide sculptural, year-round verdant architecture. Pewter pots for topiary contrast the powder-coated planters which feature trees and their light & dark tones.

Stone mulching features extensively throughout the roof gardens, covering the soil beneath trees to create natural patterns. The stone arrangements range from grey granite aggregates, stacked purple slate, polished black pebbles and giant angel boulders mounds for the tall Olive trees.

The low-maintenance scheme is appropriate for the high-traffic use and commercial setting, where the existing expanse of concrete paving requires regular jet washing.

The building features angular patterns in its facade, where we followed this contour in our planters, creating pyramidal tree planters, angled, 2-tiered & sloping planters. For the tall Olive trees, the large, low square planters serve as seats, where the front edge detail is wide enough to accommodate perching.
