AE Living’s latest bar chairs respond with strong silhouettes, tactile upholstery and carefully worked combinations of timber and metal.
Project Name: Bar Chair Into a Design Statement
Studio Name: AE Living
One design takes a more decorative route, pairing warm rust upholstery with a pale timber base. The curved back is deeply gathered, creating a series of soft folds held within a slim metallic frame. A circular upholstered seat, tapered wooden legs, metal-capped feet and a ring footrest bring structure to the generous cushioning above.
At the other end of the spectrum is a darker, more architectural chair. Black upholstery forms a broad seat and cylindrical backrest, connected by slender metal arms. Its central pedestal introduces an unexpected green, striated surface, while a dark circular base and discreet gold-toned edging sharpen the composition. The result feels closer to a piece of collectible furniture than conventional bar seating.
A third chair pares things back further. Upholstered in muted blue-green, its gently curved back sweeps towards the seat, leaving a neat cut-out at the base. Warm wooden legs and slim metal stretchers keep the profile light while adding contrast.
Across the three designs, AE Living treats height, comfort and proportion with equal attention. The chairs show how bar seating can bring colour, texture and character to a kitchen island, drinks counter or entertainment space without relying on elaborate ornament.
