Ammache Architects (Young Architecture, Young Heart) has been a Melbourne-based architectural firm for more than 25 years now that offer a whole spectrum of architectural services, from schematic design to planning, compliance, and post-construction services popular choice of the city’s residents. Every project adheres to Ammache’s guiding principle of “understanding society’s underlying physical and psychological demands,” which concentrates on creating harmony between human-made structures and the natural world. The firm blends artistic excellence with a keen awareness of client, customer, and company needs. This method produces buildings that are sustainable in a market for real estate that is extremely competitive and of beauty, quality, and functionality. Whenever possible, renewable technologies, low-energy building techniques, and sustainable materials are used in sustainable design. Their materials and processes are also the least expensive to maintain and operate, in addition to being the most environmentally friendly.

Nidal Ammache, the founder, architect, and managing director of the firm talks about his philosophy on their website:

“Architecture is not about producing a symmetrical, well-facilitated building or developing something exciting and original. It is the architect’s understanding of society’s fundamental physical and psychological needs which will determine their success and historical significance.”

Following are 15 impressive projects by the firms that one certainly cannot miss:

1. The Hub Tourism

The challenge for Ammache Architects with this design to gain local council support is to maintain the unique neighbourhood character by designing buildings that will attract and support the tourism hub for Healesville in Victoria, Australia. The mixed-use development includes a Heritage market, epicurean center, brewery, hotel, restaurant, and function center. The design concept is to bring the outside into the design linked by a unique pedestrian link service (Ammache Architects, 2020).

Playing with facades and sciography here to get the best out of the building is their style. This shows the level of detailing and determination the firm has for designing a good building.

3. NDIS Apartments

NDIS apartments are luxury apartments with luxurious interiors targeting the high-profile residents of the city. These projects consist of 19 Luxury Apartments including 10 NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) carefully designed by Ammache Architects. The project is completed now. The relationship between open, close, and transitional spaces has been explored while giving an overall look very classy. The grey and white tone of the exteriors blend quite well with the outside greenery. With massive openings and well-worked-out ventilation, one can enjoy the outside from the inside.

4. Warrnambool – CBD Mixed-used project

This is the biggest CBD mixed-used project in Warrnambool. Warrnambool City Council and the neighborhood’s businesses have been informed of the preliminary plans for a 70-million-dollar development on a fairy street. Ammache projects recently received permission to build it. The project consists of apartments, retail, a hotel, and offices. Currently, it is a work in progress. Based on a 60% hotel occupancy rate, the location may increase the number of residents in the CBD and bring in 20,000 tourists annually. This represents a good example of the firm’s working style in sustainable design while keeping the client’s requirements in mind.

5. Maribyrnong Village

Combining art and science, incorporating curved landscaping into the structure, and creating a constructed environment from a macro perspective of urban design, landscape architecture, and landscaping edge. Sustainability was put in its proper position with the use of beautiful landscaping as a vertical and horizontal break in the structure using Ammache Architect’s concept, which encourages bringing the outdoors in. Conceptual architectural designs for a mixed-use structure that includes 120 service apartments, 346 residential units, and retail space on the ground floor.

6. Medical Centre

The next project is a medical center and childcare with NDIS. This is another beautiful example of mixed-used complex project variety that Ammache Architects are comfortable working in. They have played in the façade with this one and the projections lead people to interact with the outside. While the above project represented their skills in parametric designs, this building shows how even geometry can be worked out well. The glass façade provides the opportunity to look at what is happening in the surroundings and also creates transparency.

The residence feels very personal and gives a sense of security and belonging to the place. The weather shade on the ground floor has been placed very thoughtfully. Individual parking and a separate green space have been provided for the residents to enjoy Sunday breakfast. The design of the corner window just lifts the whole building.

8. Residence in Daylesford

Ammache Architects often spend a sizable amount of time with the client during the design process to better understand them, their community, and the surroundings the project will be built in. They start doing this long before any sketching or conceptualizing starts (2 How Ammache Architects in Melbourne are Making the World a Better…, n.d.). Another residence project in Daylesford was approved for planning with working drawings in March 2021. The project had four luxury modern residential unit designs.

10. The Heads, Mount Martha

The heads is one of the earliest residential projects by the firm, located on Mount Martha, Melbourne. The location is slightly far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ammache Architects explored contours on this project and the circular balcony supported with slant columns is notably the highlight of the residence. The firm mentions that to create a great project, it’s crucial to comprehend that the places and structures that one loves the most provoke sensations in them that are difficult to put into words. But they are created by compiling and using this study and understanding (2 How Ammache Architects in Melbourne are Making the World a Better…, n.d.).

11. 20-24 Hepburn Road, Doncaster

Ammache architects learn from previous projects, including those that they have finished as well as those that other architecture companies have accomplished. It is impossible to overstate the importance of technology in the practice of architecture and how it affects our society. The capacity of the corporation to access worldwide data and study findings, as well as its ability to speak with anybody around the globe in real-time, have significantly altered the field. Today, it is conceivable to deploy a global workforce for projects that are spread across many continents. As a result, many cultural perspectives and ideas might have an impact on a particular project. Following is one such example of a commercial building.

12. Medium Density Residential

The firm states that pursuing a project involves so much more than making a few sketches. They offer much more than just the paperwork when it comes to architecture. Each stage of the building process is covered by the services Amache Architects provide. They add creativity and design flare, project management, project cost-effectiveness, and peace of mind. They all accomplish this while paying close attention to the budget! This project is one such example. It is a medium-density residential project, located in Springvale.

13. Commercial Design

Technology has also had a significant influence on how Ammache Architects designs projects. BIM modeling, virtual reality, and computer-aided drawing are a few of the technologies. These innovations have made it simpler to transmit information, close the information gap, and generate intricate, one-of-a-kind forms that have never been seen before. The following project is a commercial design, located at Eastern Road, South Melbourne, and was completed in June 2017.

14. 88-154 Park Road, Donvale

Ammache Architects uses creative and cutting-edge design approaches that are sure to benefit the plan, lower expenses, and spark ideas that will improve the project. They create the paperwork and drawings needed to get planning permission. They typically get approval the first time, saving the customer time, money, and stress. The business also files drawings for planning permission on behalf of the client and coordinates with the appropriate authorities to supply any extra information that may be needed. Additionally, they give our clients advice on reliable consultants and contractors (2 How Ammache Architects in Melbourne are Making the World a Better…, n.d.). This is helpful in projects like the one below.

15. Office Building at St. Kilda

The company also puts together a project team for the customer as part of its service. They identify the top consultants and contractors who can complete the project on schedule and within their set budgets. Organize and serve as the project team’s captain. The company will be actively involved in the project from the planning stages to construction, strictly abiding by all applicable rules. The company controls the process, the personnel, and any potential issues. The company controls the budget, which is very crucial. One such example is the office building ready to lodge, located at the St. Kilda by Ammache Architects.
