In the vibrant core of Moscow, a distinctively modern concept store emerges — the Carol Christian Poell boutique. The store, which has now spread its avant-garde wings to a second level, reflects an ethos of bold design and exceptional craftsmanship. The first floor, masterfully crafted by the architect Ariana Ahmad in 2021, garnered acclaim and sparked the evolution to an additional floor. At the behest of the boutique’s founder, Alexander Moiseenkov, Ariana was beckoned once more to sculpt the expansion of this creative haven.

Ariana remarks on the critical nature of brand synergy in this venture. Carol Christian Poell, a virtuoso of leatherwork and avant-garde approaches, stands out in the fashion arena with his limited collections that are as enigmatic as they are exclusive — available strictly by appointment. Each piece, enveloped in individuality and equipped with its own ‘passport’, speaks to the brand’s core values of aesthetic purity and design autonomy. The second-story interior, thus, was envisioned as a sanctuary, stripped of distractions, primed for reflection and appreciation, aligning with the brand’s unadulterated spirit.
Seamlessly in sync with Carol Christian Poell’s team, the project’s realization was a testament to collaborative precision, with designs and details meticulously relayed to Milan for realization. Ariana confesses to the project’s evolution into a living artwork, devoid of artificiality, where authenticity reigns supreme.
The newly unveiled second floor, more spacious than its predecessor, boasts an expansive area of 86 square meters. It’s a tableau of minimalist industrial charm — from poured floors to exposed beams and raw utilities. The décor’s rawness, enhanced by glass blocks sourced from a deserted factory and stark white tiling, sets a dramatic stage for the boutique’s avant-garde collections. Sparse yet purposeful furnishings, like the Chairs 101 Copenhagen and a bespoke table from Friends&Founders, curated by GK concept, resonate with the space’s innovative vibe.
At the core of this artistic realm stands a unique installation, birthed from the creative synergy between Ariana Ahmad and Alexander Moiseenkov — a cast-iron bathtub, bisected and repurposed into a striking art piece. And in a symbolic gesture of completion, a designer sink gifted by Carol Christian Poell himself now adorns the main hall, a testament to the project’s triumph.
Ariana’s reflection on the project encapsulates the space’s essence — unassuming yet illustrious, a fitting homage to the artistry of Carol Christian Poell, where the ambiance speaks volumes without overshadowing the allure of the creations it houses.
