As the trend in the global population spirals towards increasing levels of urbanization, the contemporary metropolis has become the problematic site of an ever more critical set of environmental, socioeconomic and cultural concerns.
A series of universities and institutes have gathered to create residential campuses on fringe locations around NYC to study the potential responses to these critical issues.
I propose a campus that will house a myriad of scholars, students and staff. The areas of study of the new satellite campuses will mostly be dependent on fieldwork to be shared with their main campus. Nonetheless, some academic facilities will complement the heavily residential campuses.
The project’s goal is to provide affordable housing for students in Green Point Brooklyn meanwhile using support programs such as retail spaces to create connection between the building and urban context. The building’s form is shaped by the solar condition of the site which gurantee an ideal living space for students around the green point area.
