The Chaten home wraps around its extraordinary view of Black Mountain in Carefree, AZ. The U-shaped plan allows views of the mountain from each major interior space – living, dining, kitchen, master bedroom and the lucky guest who sleeps in the spare bedroom.

The roof slopes upward in the great room to capture the mountain and sky above, assisted by 35’ lineal feet of glass that is 15’ tall. The glass opens with two 13’-0” x 10’-0” sliding units, allowing easy access to the outdoor entertaining space. The master bedroom wall facing the mountain is also glass – 16’ wide by 10’ tall.
The U-shaped plan encloses an outdoor entertaining space that includes a pool, BBQ, dining and living areas, and a sitting area around a firepit.
The sloping roof cantilevers 18’ to cover the outdoor entertaining space which the U-shaped plan encloses. The outdoor space includes a pool, firepit sitting area and plenty of space for tv viewing and dining.
The interiors are a study in minimalism. White oak floor planks connect interiors, bamboo cabinetry provides darker hues while stone tiles strike accents on the fireplace wall and powder room.
