Located atop a small hill in Kerala, this 12000 sq. ft. courtyard home could not look more typically traditional; from the outside.

Step through the door, however and the interior is an elegant mix of global influences and reclaimed pieces selected to work in harmony with the traditional architecture.

Redesigned by Temple Town this property has been turned into a sanctuary holding fast to the core principles of promoting local and sustainable interiors.

Our client wanted her home to have a sense of calm and to be a place she could wind down when she returns from her travels. At the same time, she wanted a sociable space, where she could welcome guests in a relaxed atmosphere. A minimalist scheme that would look modern, fresh, and feel relaxing.

This home combines functionality with clean lines whilst also having a sanctuary-like feel.

The courtyard connects all the main action zones, the living, dining, foyer, and bedrooms, giving definition to the space whilst retaining those open views.

Embrace nature: For the living room, we chose only a few key shades picked from the surroundings.

The palette used is delicate greys, beiges, browns, and greens to lighten the space and not detract from the natural beauty.

In the dining room, the marble table top adds a tactile element to a pared-back scheme and a simple customized iron pendant light complements the natural look.

A collection of mismatched white porcelain crockery with violet and white flowers of “Daisy Chrysanthemum” creates a simultaneously understated and dramatic interior.

In each bedroom, the neutral palette of wooden flooring and white walls is offset with charming accessories.

We used a restrained palette of materials and colors, glass and crisp white to create visual unity throughout the home.

We are all about encouraging reuse, so we help people to recognize what fabulous items they already own and yet create interiors that work well functionally and is always tranquil and welcoming.
