Arquitectonica is a global architectural, landscape architecture, interior design, and urban planning design company with offices across the US, Europe, and Asia. Its headquarters are in Miami, Florida. The company was established in 1977 and is renowned for its “Trendsetting Modernist Miami Style”. One of their projects, the new cruise terminal at Port of Miami, with a daily passenger capacity of 36,000, has just started construction. The studio has been chosen as the 2019 recipient of the American Prize for Architecture, which is given to professionals who have influenced American architectural history and improved humanity through their work.
According to a study from 2013, if the project were to be built, it would not be finished until at least 2018 and would cost about $1 billion. A Notice of Presumed Hazard letter from the FAA may cause the structure, which was initially planned to be 1,102 feet (336 m) tall, to be further scaled back to 1,040 feet (320 m). One Brickell City Centre will soon rank among the nation’s tallest structures according to the FAA’s final approval of its 80-story height.
As part of the first phase of Brickell City Center, it would be on Brickell Avenue at SW Eighth Street and connected to the altered Eighth Street Metro mover station. A mixed-use structure with 256 condos, 677,000 square feet (62,895 m2) of Class A office space, 67,000 square feet (6,225 m2) of retail space, and 120 hotel rooms was in the design. It is a component of the nine-acre, mixed-use complex known as Brickell City Centre. On the 79th floor and the 80th floor, respectively, of the tower, there would be a lounge and a restaurant. With construction set to start in 2023, the skyscraper was altered in 2022 to be entirely office space.
Though this was never formalized, the FAA indicated in January 2015 that they would try to prohibit the project unless the height was reduced to 475 ft. On June 24, 2015, federal officials ruled that the project would be legally permitted to move forward at 1,040 feet above sea level or 1,049 feet above the ground.
One Brickell City Center, a 1,000-foot (about 300-meter) office tower by Arcquitectonica, was presented as the state of Florida’s highest commercial building. The office building is the second phase of Brickell City Centre, a 4.9 million square foot (450,000 square meters) mixed-use complex that debuted in 2016. It is situated on Brickell Avenue in Miami’s financial center. Swire Properties Inc. and Related Companies are building One Brickell City Center. In 2023, construction is scheduled to start.
The initiative responds to Miami’s constantly changing role as a significant international business, finance, and technology center. The new tower will have 1.6 million square feet (about 150,000 square meters) of office space and all the required amenities, such as shopping, dining, and entertainment. The offices will include multiple conference rooms, outdoor patios on each story, and interiors without columns. The several community areas provide views of Downtown Miami, the Miami River, and the ocean.
