The Trendsetters | Architectural and design
The post covid period of 2022 has seen technology take over a lot of roles in architectural and design. Modular or 3D architecture, compact homes, community-inclusive designs, etc are some trendsetters of 2022, which are in demand in 2023 as well.
Hints of maximalism could be noticed in interior design trends in the previous year and the coming year also. After having a considerable dose of minimalist-style homes and many users can be seen leaning over to numerous bold colours. Well, Boldness is not only for the colours but for all the choices designers and clients make together.
Be it with a roof structure, the material, or the furniture, being bold is not a new thing for this decade. With the design being bold, the materials are favoured for their organic look.
Social Media reach & Its Versatility
A designer is responsible for turning the design into reality, which is essentially a business and, being in a business involves taking steps to grow the business. Social media has had the designers use the platform well in 2022 in areas like podcasts, reels, and workshops, most essentially posting and sharing their projects on diverse platforms. Designers have started to interact with other designers on social media and initiate discussions on various issues faced by the design community, sharing experiences. 2023 is expected to see more of these: Who knows your potential client might find you through social media!
The AI Boom | Architectural and design
Artificial Intelligence, no doubt, has boomed and is continuing to rule the decade. That being said, there are various branches of AI and its application in the design industry. AI can be visual or textual, interactive or generative, or analytical or functional. There is no doubt that AI is going to take over and rather influence the change in the role of designers. As 2022 saw the introduction of platforms like Chat GPT, Mid journey, Dall E etc, 2023 is most likely to witness Artificial intelligence and designers both coordinating and contributing to the industry.
In 2023, more of us will work alongside robots and smart machines specifically designed to help us do our jobs better and more efficiently. (Marr, 2022)

Go Sustainable – Responsibilities of a Designer in 2023 | Architectural and design
For a designer to go sustainable, various bases, besides pollution, can be cited. Designers are responsible for decreasing the carbon footprint production as a stakeholder with power. To reduce the carbon footprint of a product, designers are encouraged to adopt the practice of circular economy, i.e., reduce, recycle and reuse. In definitive terms, adaptive reuse and repurposing of furniture, building materials and components. With that being said, sustainable ideas like solar panelling, water recycling, and efficient energy consumption ideas are welcomed by most clients in their projects.

In architecture and design school, students are prepared not only to design but to illustrate, visualise, write and capture their design, which are the essentials of a design process. With the covid pandemic affecting everyone’s choices and limitations, users expect their needs to be accommodated within their residence; a community space that brings the neighbours closer and yet allows families to sequester when needed, and not to forget the all cosy work-from-home setup.
