At ON-A we have collaborated with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) to visualise how drone infrastructure could be integrated into our cities in the future.

Through an architectural approach, the work explores how these new layers of infrastructure could be incorporated into the urban landscape in an integrated way, taking into account aspects such as public space, mobility, biodiversity, the identity of places and the everyday experience of their inhabitants. The images offer urban planners a vision of how drones could become part of the places where we live and work.
The images form part of an RTPI initiative to encourage early reflection on the role of
planning in the face of the expansion of drones. They do not seek to predict a specific
future, but rather to make different possibilities visible and open up a conversation about
how we want these technologies to transform our cities.
In this context, Dr Paul Cureton of Lancaster University and Dr Anna Jackman of the
University of Reading highlight the potential benefits of drone technology as it emerges and expands. However, they also warn of the importance of forward-looking planning from the outset.
At ON-A, our approach has always been to anticipate and shape the future through
architecture and design. We believe that integrating drones into our cities is not just a
technical challenge, but an opportunity to reimagine our urban spaces so that they are more efficient, sustainable and people-centred.
We hope these visualisations will inspire a dialogue about the future of our cities and the
role we can all play in shaping it. Because at ON-A, we believe that imagining the future is
the first step towards making it a reality.
