The moment you think of a legal workspace, what often comes to mind is dark wood, boxed-in cabins, and a certain inherited rigidity. But interior designer Mili Savekar approached the Lead Legal office in Worli with a distinctly different vision, breaking away from conventional patterns through fluidity and quiet boldness.

“When I visited the site, the space was a cluster of four disconnected office rooms. But I could see the potential. It just needed to breathe,” Mili recalls.
From that first impression came a complete reimagining. Walls were removed, thresholds
softened, and a new spatial rhythm introduced. The clients wanted a professional space, but one that didn’t feel rigid. They asked for something refined, with a youthful energy. Mili
responded with a design that paired modern luxury with warmth.
That intent is clear the moment you step inside. A bold piece of art spans the reception wall, its expressive brushwork breaking away from the traditional design language of legal spaces. “Art has a way of making a space feel personal,” says Mili. “In a field so rooted in perspective, we wanted that to come through visually.” Beneath, a black and white marble floor in a geometric pattern anchors the space and sets the tone for what follows.
In the conference room, the design pushes further. At its centre sits a deep red table, sculptural and commanding. The choice is unexpected in a corporate setting but entirely deliberate. Brass and opal-glass pendant lights above add a soft rhythm to the space. Wood-panelled walls introduce texture and warmth. There is authority here, but it is conveyed through balance and proportion, not through excess.
The director’s cabin continues this atmosphere of composed confidence. Spacious and calm, the room uses contrast to express power. A Baccarat-style chandelier introduces a classical note above modern fluted wall panels. A custom-designed desk, crafted with contrasting veneer, becomes a quiet focal point. “The director’s cabin is my favourite space,” Mili says. “It embodies my design philosophy. It’s not about spectacle, it’s about resonance. It’s designed to stay with you.”
Throughout the office, luxury is never loud. The material palette is unified and thoughtful. The neutral colour palette of deep browns, taupes, and soft greys is given depth through subtle shifts in light, texture, and finish. Oakwood, brushed metal, natural stone, and soft fabrics blend seamlessly, creating a refined atmosphere. Light is treated as an active design element. It draws attention to texture, creates mood and guides the eye through the space.
This restraint continues in the informal lounge tucked away toward the back. Designed as a
place of pause, it warms both in palette and material.
A subtle white floor provides a gentle foundation, while a layered dark rug introduces contrast and texture. Fabric-upholstered seating, handmade ceramics, and a curved side table work together to create an ambience that is calm and inviting without feeling plain. A tray ceiling introduces volume, while recessed lighting and a sculptural floor lamp bring visual balance. Photographic art on the walls adds rhythm without distraction. It’s minimal but never cold, serene but alive with detail.
Even the smallest corners are thoughtfully designed. In the powder room, a black-framed mirror with an integrated panel offers discreet storage while adding an elevated edge to the wall. Crisp lines and refined detailing echo the office’s overall design language. “Every part of a space deserves intention,” Mili says. Nothing feels like filler.
