Keight Hotel, part of the Hilton Curio Collection, brings a contemporary expression of travel and hospitality to the heart of Opatija — a town celebrated for its secessionist architecture and long-standing spa culture. Discreet in materiality and tone, the hotel respectfully integrates into the historic fabric of the city while introducing a modern reinterpretation of its tourist heritage.

Drawing inspiration from maritime voyages, the layout and interiors of the hotel recall the experience of travel at sea. Guest rooms reinterpret the traditional “stateroom” – first-class cabins on ships – with elongated plans rotated to align with the narrow plot, optimizing the façade exposure and enhancing natural light and views. Their interiors feature a muted palette of stormy sea and sky tones, reinforcing the sense of shelter and calm.

The hotel’s ground floor is designed as a social hub: the restaurant, bar, and reception are linked through an outdoor garden, and open to both hotel guests and locals. The ambiance draws from the city’s history of Viennese and Italian coffeehouse culture, paired with the conviviality of maritime kitchens. Covered loggias and layered public spaces create transitions between interior and exterior, formal and informal.

A rooftop terrace with an infinity pool and bar offers panoramic views of the Kvarner archipelago — a quiet retreat above the city. In the basement, guests can access wellness facilities including a 25-meter indoor pool and a conference suite for business and events.

The building’s architecture is shaped by its challenging urban plot. The rhythm of the façade’s vertical and horizontal grid reflects the proportions of Opatija’s historical villas, while the minimal ornamentation and calm textures ensure the hotel sits comfortably among its neighbors. Site-specific artworks are integrated throughout the hotel, adding a distinct identity to each floor and room.
