Drawing influence from Simar’s personal art collection, which includes pieces by Raja Ravi Verma, and her textile collection, which includes Phulkari and ikats, the project sought to give the store a contemporary Indian feel. As a tribute to Simar’s passion for Kerala, the design included Kadappa black stone, and the use of urns, mardabans, and old black-and-white photos conveyed a raw, organic look.
Since they have been friends for more than ten years, Amina has a close understanding of Simar’s distinct design style and endearing nature. The designer worked closely with Arjan Dugal, the director and creative head of the company, to realize a distinct vision when tasked with creating Simar Dugal’s legacy store.
The store’s maximalist bridal department was designed with a striking lime wash in the brand’s distinctive red hue, creating a dramatic and timeless atmosphere.
A carefully chosen combination of contemporary and vintage furniture items was used to improve the store’s atmosphere and tell the story of Simar Dugal’s journey. This added depth to the story that characterizes Simar’s creative legacy.
