Project Name: St Paul’s Roof Garden
Studio Name: Mylandscapes LTD

Using an external furniture lift, we hoisted up large tree specimens, compost, pebbles and bespoke planters. Ginkgo, Maple, Holly, Magnolia, Bamboo & Birch frame the epic vistas to St Paul’s Cathedral, with a focal point commissioned stone sculpture by Elliott Brotherton. Aspidistra, Acorus, Carex & Buxus complete the minimalist palette for a low-maintenance planting scheme. Since then, we revised our planting approach which is now highly biodiverse.

We designed one-off unique planters for this project. There are interlocking pairs with angles and two-tone powder-coating in slate and agate to echo the local rooflines vernacular. The masonry walls were painted in a deep, warm maroon colour to add contrast, shadows & reiterate the local brickwork. Indoor planting features succulents in bespoke troughs which continue the outdoor theme in shapes and colours.

This entire project contains unique aperture planters which increase light, views & depth. The back terrace has bespoke expanded aluminium screens to create privacy from the offices opposite, along similar screens for AC units. For our art lover client, the sculptural planters, plants and outdoor art complete a strong duality between interior and exterior, making this home a truly rich and engaging space both day & night, all year round.
