This 40-sqm minimalist roof garden opposite the Shard roof terrace in London Bridge provides easy, low-key, low-maintenance outdoor living for the busy clients. Arranged symmetrically to hardwood decking bordered by buff sandstone paving, the two surfaces are detailed with LED strip lighting.
Project Name: London Bridge Roof Garden
Studio Name: Mylandscapes LTD

Created for a couple, we designed duo planters. The semi-cantilevered pairs nearly touch one another, with capacious apertures which amplify the small space and are warmly lit by LED contour tracing.
Planted low to cope with high winds up on the 7th floor, the planters lead the eye towards two Birch tree focal points at both ends of the terrace. The Birches are planted in bespoke tapered square planters which feature a circular aperture.

With Renzo Piano’s Shard opus dominating the vistas, overwhelming the tiny terrace, the rhythmic composition of planter duos and their architectural essence & lighting connect the rooftop to its city landscape backdrop.

Low troughs on the left feature Strawberry trees (Arbutus) for privacy in front of a bespoke Cedar screen. On the right, Palm trees & culinary herbs frame the Canary Wharf vista, softening the seating area.
