This 11th-floor surveys epic landmarks in the west London skyline. Battersea Power Station’s chimneys, Wembley Stadium’s Arch and the London Eye provide architectural appeal night & day. Our client relocated to Caro Point from Hepworth Court within the Grosvenor Waterside complex, where the building is named after the sculptor Sir Anthony Caro, where enormous limestone walls & a weathervane dictate the architecture. Having collaborated before, we embarked on a second rooftop journey, closely tweaking the details, layouts, textures & colours to create an indoor-outdoor connection between the interior and its 4 roof terraces.
Each roof garden features a focal point tree as the main attraction from within the residence, emitting warm illuminations, shadows & contours.
The 4 roof terraces feature an angular perimeter, where we repeated this configuration by crossing the new surfaces diagonally between the sandstone and granite pavers. A floating raised bed with an LED light features a graceful Eucalyptus tree, underscored by Mexican lilies and Buckthorn shrubs, creating a bold focal point for the kitchen through glass doors. Corkscrew willow frames the entrance by the doors, while an evergreen Photinia hedge links the trees to provide an essential windbreak in this blustery aspect.
The second roof garden features a copper Japanese maple in a copper pot, elevated by shade ground-cover. The third roof garden homes a tall palm tree grown in a black pot and accentuated by Epimedium & ferns. The smaller fourth balcony outside the living room repeats the powder-coated blue planters with lush planting. White Vondom furniture set echoes the rooftop design and the angularity of the building.
