Not far from the Moscow metro station “Ulitsa 1905 Goda” there is a business center “Zemelny” with a total area ofmore than 39,000 m2. The surrounding buildings with the industrial architecture of the 20th century visually make the business center a “green spot” with a vertical garden. As a prototype for the structure, the hyperboloid structures of the Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov, the author of the Shukhov radio tower in Moscow, were chosen.

Wanting to create a building reminiscent of a private house located within the city, the UNK architects used a lot of glass, framed by a thin snow-white metal outline. The outer decorative shell of the building has an uneven rhythm, thus the shell stands out and a memorable appearance of the building is created. Virginia creepers (a flowering vine of the grape family) were placed on the facade of the house. Thanks to them, every season the appearance of the building changes: in summer the facade is painted in a bright green color, in autumn this color is diluted with red patches, and in winter the creepers completely expose the facade of the building.

The main volume of the building has the shape of an isosceles triangle, in the center of which there are elevator lobbies and emergency exits, each floor is divided into six independent blocks. It is the triangular plan that makes it possible to achieve a very high building area efficiency factor. Of the features of the ground part of the building, it is necessary to highlight the suspended ceilings of the 2nd and 3rd floors, hung on steel strands from the level of the floor slab of the 4th floor. This visually lightens the fully glazed façade by making columns as light as possible.

During the construction, the challenge of erecting a building that occupies most of the site was pursued. To solve this problem, a top-down construction method was used, with underground levels growing down from street level. Thanks to this, the Underground part of the building accommodates parking for 370 spaces and is equipped with chargers for electric vehicles.

Zemelny is located in a three-story stylobate, which houses cafes, shops, conference rooms. The entire infrastructure can be used by both office tenants and residents.

In the evening, Zemelny is decorated with light, and in the daytime – creepers. However, if the light performs a decorative function, the vines also perform an ecological one. Over time, Virginia creepers will spread throughout the building envelope and become an additional source of oxygen for the city, which means they will improve the ecology of the entire city and create a new point of attraction for the area. Already now the infrastructure of the Zemelny is public and available to everyone.

Business center “Zemelny” is an ideal place for those who appreciate and who need the functionality of the workspace and harmony with nature.
