São Luís is a city situated in northeastern Brazil, on São Luís island in the Atlantic Ocean. The city’s unique focus is the neighbourhood of Praia Grande, around Portugal Street, set apart by provincial structures with unmistakable tiles and cast-iron overhangs. The Palace of the Lions, home of the state lead representative, shows French craftsmanship and furniture. Close by is the unique, seventeenth-century La Ravardière Palace. São Luís is known for its tiles in which the most authentic focus structures are canvassed. As a result, the city is otherwise called “The Tiles City” and “Brazilian Athens”. In 1989, there was a broad program to reestablish and redesign the pioneer period structures of the city’s verifiable focus.
