Shiraz is the fifth-most-crowded city of Iran and the capital of its Fars Province. The area had no authoritative record of its presence before the late seventh century CE. Several Sasanian-time remains have been found around the city. The current city of Shiraz was established or reestablished in 693 by Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi. The Arab Muslim armed force had defeated the more extensive district of Fars, where the site of Shiraz is situated. This region had no urban communities. However, there were many strongholds compelled to honour the Arabs. The latest tasks have been finishing the rebuilding of the Arg of Karim Khan and the Vakil Bath and a thorough arrangement to protect the old city quarters. Other essential drives incorporate the redesigning of the Qur’an Gate and the catacomb of the writer Khwaja Kermani and the reclamation and extension of the tomb of the renowned Shiraz-conceived artist Hafiz and Saadi.
