Momentum Product Design- 10 Iconic Products

Momentum is an award-winning Industrial design firm with a reputation in the consumer electronics industry. With innovation being a fundamental element in all products that are created, Momentum enjoys pushing boundaries in the name of good design. 

Momentum starts every project by reviewing the design objectives with the client and creating a concise project brief. Once information is gathered, a budget and the research of competitive and comparable products are proposed. Further, they propose preliminary concept design options for the product’s physical design by exploring graphics and various other features. A design definition is proposed from the conceptual stage for developing all mechanical design-related solutions. Detailed 3D CAD and documentation for all components are defined here. Designs are updated based on previous prototypes, with all specifications and product graphics documentation.

Dum Audio: Hi-Fi Stereo System

A simple stereo system designed by Momentum aims to ensure a fantastic audio experience without the complications and failings of other high-tech systems. The design defines a beautiful retro, referencing an era where technology was stripped and more approachable. They developed each component through mechanical design and hand-off for final manufacturing, including various details.

D’Addario XPND Pedalboard

Guitarists use pedalboards to supply effects pedals for the electric guitar. This pedalboard designed by Momentum allows you to collapse it for small compact setups. They used the idea of small cam latches to quickly unlock the rails and expand the size of the board. Aluminum extrusions were used for the design. 

ZipGarden Indoor Garden

ZipGarden is a small hydroponic system designed and built for indoor use and brings small-scale farming of leafy greens, herbs, and more into homes. This product can harvest an equivalence of 10ft. x 10ft. garden in the convenience of homes proving it to be a mean green growing machine and a sustainable product.  

Momentum’s unique perception was to provide both individuals and small farms to grow for themselves. The design constitutes wall-mounted towers used more commercially. The aim was to create a beautiful-looking unit that would fit naturally into the consumer’s living space. Minimal aesthetics glorify the natural beauty of an indoor garden. Challenges like hiding water source and functional elements, limiting exposure of light, and providing a convenient location for seedling tray were given proper end-user solutions.  

Shopify Retail Stand for Ipad

This product is an extension of point-of-sale software. It is thoughtfully designed to support day-to-day activities. The iPad case, designed to fit a range of pads, quickly and easily disconnects from the dock/stand to support the merchant to another from the counter and provide a key requirement, flexibility. For better solutions, an OS reorients the screen graphics to offer functional benefits. The use of colour, application of materials and finishes, and other finer and technical details were explored, and the best end-user results were provided. 

Anthem STR- 2-channel Amplifier

The revolutionary STR Integrated Amplifier is based on a new technological platform for true benchmark performance in stereo amplification. The aim was to design an amplifier and establish a new visual identity with innovations and a unique language for all products. Momentum refocused on-screen graphics to create a new design vocabulary. They developed a design that visually split a device into a half-screen on the left and physical inputs to the right. A subtle curve was introduced to juxtapose the design, providing a clean, strong design statement to the product.

THX ONYX- Headphone Amp

A digital-to-analogue amplifier to upgrade to master quality audio and ensure the highest quality mobile listening experience. The product is designed to plug into cell phones or laptops on one end and a pair of headphones on another end. A design that would look home beside any high-end headphones and yet create an echo with an iconic logo. The idea was to keep wires tangle-free and provide handy cable ties for headphones. All the chips are housed finely in a single aluminium block, giving exceptional build quality and heat-sinking properties. The product gives a high gloss finish with an emphasising logo.

D’Addario Eclipse Tuner

Tuners are used to assess the pitches of open-string instruments like guitars. This Eclipse tuner is an affordable clip-on tuner that offers fast, accurate chromatic instrument tuning. This clip-on guitar tuner focuses on usability, adjustability, and a clean experience that reflects the brand. The tuner allows a more compact design and spontaneous tuning user experience. Momentum developed user interface graphics for fine-tuning experience. All mechanical details are ideally housed in the device with flexible and pivot geometry and be folded discreetly out of the way when not in use.

iCreation Wifi Video Doorbell

This product is the latest entry into the home market. The smart camera includes facial recognition and voice memo recording. Momentum identified the shortcomings and addressed them in its product design. They developed a design that allowed angle adjustments to parts of the product. Their iconic design fits in and stands out among a crowded field of smart doorbells.

Paradigm Electronics Premium Wireless Series

These are powerful speakers and wireless amplifiers. Momentum gave them a contemporary look without sacrificing the brand value and they were able to find a niche in the market. Working with the team, they developed three products in the series. They were allowed to create custom drivers and amplifiers that perfectly suited the housings. They also launched soundbars, subwoofers, and other wireless products.

Shopify Tap & Chip

This is Shopify’s latest hardware device used in the retail market. Momentum helped them in the early stages of design. They aimed to create a great user experience based on real end-user behaviours. The final product allowed for portability, a stable and reliable charging strategy, a simple user interface, and a great-looking design.
