Previously, Malegaon was a tiny intersection known as Maliwadi or the hamlet of gardeners. Malegaon’s history dates back to 1740 when a local landowner named Naro Shankar Raje Bahadur began work on a fort that would take nearly 25 years to complete. In the Indian state of Maharashtra, Malegaon is a city and a municipal corporation located in the Nashik District. It is located along the Mosam River’s bank. At the confluence of the Mausam (formerly Moosy) and Girna rivers is Malegaon (previously Maligaon). There was a little intersection called Maliwadi on the road connecting Mumbai and Agra, today known as National Highway-3 (NH3) (hamlet of gardens).
