Hué is located in central Vietnam and was the country’s capital from 1802 to 1945. The city was the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty and is known for its royal Vietnamese cuisine. The region is home to Đại Nội Citadel, a 19th-century citadel constructed in stone. The monument is an expression of the imperial city that existed, with multiple palaces and shrines symbolising it. The city is also home to the Forbidden Purple City, better known as the Emperor’s home and the Royal Theatre.
