Sao José is a city in the Santa Catarina region of Brazil and is the fourth oldest city in the area. The region was colonized in 1750 by Azorean couples. It was later the nucleus of German colonization in 1829. Due to these colonizations, rapid development started happening in the region leading to economic and population growth. The city is an industrial centre for manufacturing of telecommunication equipment, textiles and food processing.
