Dresden is europe’s greatest baroque cities  lies majestically on the Elbe River. Before world war II dresden was known as “Florence on the elbe” being recognised as one of the world’s most beautiful cities owing to its art and architecture. After the allied bombardment during the second world war the city was badly damaged, many structures were reconstructed with modern buildings, broad streets and squares, and green spaces aiming to preserve the old city and establish the balance between old and new. Today, Dresden looks more like  pre- World War II era because its prominent architectural treasures such as the Zwinger Palace, the Frauenkirche, and the Semperoper that were nearly destroyed have been beautifully restored.
