The client comprises a joint family of two generations and, their requirement was a four-bedroom home that is Vaastu compliant, with minimal interior treatments. They demanded uncluttered open spaces with ample ventilation and a home that is easy to maintain.

This abode is a cozy haven nested in a lush green setting abutting Paddy fields and Myristica fragrans plantation (Jathi thottam) merging its interiors to the site context. Like the classical raga which invites the rain, “MEGHAMALHAR” is a home which, like the people living in it, enjoys the rain and the beauty that it brings.

Large overhangs protect windows from direct sunlight, reducing glare and heat gain. The integration of local materials enhances thermal mass, further regulating indoor temperatures. harmonizes with the natural environment but also fosters sustainable living, demonstrating how traditional wisdom can inform modern architectural practices for climate resilience.

Double-height volumes in residential design offer numerous advantages, including an enhanced sense of space and openness, making rooms feel larger and more inviting. The improved acoustics and connection to nature through expansive views further enhance the living experience, making double-height volumes a desirable feature in modern homes.
