The architectural program has at its core the daily activities of reproduction, production, and care in the home. Given the change in post-pandemic routines, spaces have been considered that are not only comfortable and functional but also integrate child-rearing and/or pet care. The interior spaces are designed to provide conditions of comfort beyond basic natural lighting or ventilation, fostering contemplative spaces. The design creates visual accents that, in addition to creating beautiful atmospheres with the manipulation of architectural elements, define the spatial/ownership characteristics of the users.

Located in one of the most traditional neighborhoods founded in the early 17th century in the southern part of Mexico City, characterized by its well-planned and well-traced layout with originally single-family housing. We add value and encourage current habitability to a site that was in clear decline at the time of acquisition. A multifamily dwelling was designed to propose a pedestrian scale, considering the car as a complement but not compromising space for communal interaction. The aim is to build a sense of community in a neighborhood that allows new architecture under an analysis of contemporary urban life.

The design intention was to preserve land use in the area, maintaining and respecting the heights allowed by city regulations. Our contribution aimed to enhance the quality of life without overloading land occupancy. Although the proposal is atypical for the site, it has become an option that not only offers quality and beauty but also serves as a new landmark in the neighborhood.

The building was designed in a modular form based on complete construction and a structure made of orange-tinted concrete. It was resolved through a passive energy strategy that allows natural lighting and cross ventilation to connect each space within each dwelling. There are open spaces (light cubes and/or courtyards) that enable a simple but sufficient lighting design for the required comfort level.
