The apartment on which the restoration was carried out is located in a historic building from 1920 in the elegant Umbertino district of Bari.

The material with which the project was shaped was memory and harmony. The guiding thread of the intervention was, in fact, to combine the memories of the place, imprinted on the ancient hand-made cement tiles, the reuse of design furniture and the works of art from the family collection. That is linked with the contemporary architectural language and the housing needs of a couple with three teenage children.
In fact, the traditional local cement tiles have been recovered and reassembled following a new design or creative use: on the floor in dialogue with the parquet or as a covering to enhance the essential design of the bathroom fixtures.
The original entrance door with colored glass and wrought iron decoration was also recovered, adapting it to the new security systems.
The 180.00 square meters of the house have been divided between shared spaces in the living area and more intimate and independent spaces in the sleeping area. In the dining room, the Match suspension by Vibia was conceived and configured as a trait d’union between the fluid spaces of the living area where, thanks to a series of retractable doors, the entrance, kitchen, dining area and living room can be isolated according to the needs of the family.
The new furniture elements inserted, mainly custom-made, look to the contemporary style, with minimal features, which enhance the richness of the interiors without prevailing over the harmony between old and new.
