Set within the dense urban fabric of Delhi, this 1,300-square-foot residence reinterprets simplicity as an architecture of wellness and composure. The design does not pursue reduction for its own sake, but seeks clarity, spaces distilled to their most essential, tactile, and atmospheric elements.

The living room articulates the project’s ethos of composed richness. Taupe, warm beige, and earthen tones establish a grounded palette, while a grey sectional with ribbed upholstery acts as both anchor and counterpoint, combining comfort with architectural precision. Subtle contrasts emerge in the muted burgundy lounge chair and circular coffee table, while a large-scale artwork of architectural motifs deepens the spatial narrative. Sheer drapes temper natural light, transforming it into a dynamic material that softens surfaces and articulates texture.

Adjoining the living space, a bespoke wall treatment synthesises contemporary restraint with classical proportion. Recessed panelling, softened by rounded edges and a quiet two-tone composition of ivory and sage green, creates visual rhythm without excess. A black console and green ceramic vases extend the room’s material language, privileging clarity of form over ornamentation.
The dining corner refines this ethos into an intimate setting. A built-in banquette upholstered in tactile fabric accommodates discreet storage, ensuring the coexistence of comfort and utility. Mid-century inspired chairs and a black pedestal table reinforce compositional balance, while a handwoven pendant light in natural fibres introduces artisanal tactility. Accents of greenery and layered wall art extend the biophilic undercurrent, situating the dining ritual within a sensorially warm environment.

The private quarters sustain the home’s conceptual core of simplicity as refined wellness. In the guest bedroom, the recurrent use of arches in wall panelling and mirrors introduces softness, tempering the rectilinear geometry of the space. A restrained palette of creamy whites, taupe drapes, and light grey upholstery acquires depth through the grounding presence of a moody navy bedspread. Light and shadow become active elements, rendering surfaces as mutable and alive.
The master bedroom develops a more expressive language while remaining anchored in restraint. An oversized botanical linework mural transforms the bed wall into a dynamic surface, amplifying scale while abstracting nature into graphic rhythm. A mauve velvet channel-tufted headboard provides both rhythm and softness, offset by a black fluted panel and minimalist side table. This dialogue between plush tactility and precise linearity defines the room’s character. A palette of greys, muted browns, ochres, and black achieves compositional depth, while a pendant lamp crafted from shredded natural fibres introduces an element of organic imperfection, grounding the space in the tactile qualities of craft.

Throughout the residence, simplicity is cultivated not as uniformity but as a layered clarity. Material palettes privilege suede, woven fibres, timber, and stone, all arranged within a framework of muted tones that ensure longevity. Functionality is embedded within streamlined silhouettes, allowing architecture to articulate itself through contrast, joinery, and proportion. Natural light is treated as an essential medium, animating textures and enhancing wellness by fostering calm, comfort, and temporal awareness.

The home stands as a contemporary retreat defined by composure that embodies an architecture of restraint, cultivates an atmosphere of clarity, and wellness. Here, simplicity emerges as a discipline of design, one that values balance, proportion, and material honesty, elevating everyday living into a refined and restorative experience.
