When the clients first met designer Mili Savekar, they weren’t looking for something borrowed from Pinterest, nor a home defined by fleeting design. What they longed for was a space that would grow with them, calm and deeply personal.

The design journey began with a deep observation of the apartment’s natural rhythm: how
morning light spills through the sea-facing windows, how shadows shift throughout the day, and how each space flows into the next. Every element was designed to let the home breathe, blend seamlessly with the natural world outside.

A soft, neutral palette became the foundation of the design, with deeper tones introduced
sparingly to create contrast while preserving the sense of calm. Textural materials, chosen for their tactile qualities, added a richness and made the space as comforting to live in as it was beautiful. “We wanted every surface to invite touch,” Mili says. “To feel grounded, not glossy.”

As you step into the foyer, you’re immediately greeted by deeper hues that set a quiet, dramatic mood. A large mirror-panelled wall, framed in black marble, catches the eye, while a minimalist console table grounds the space. A scalloped pendant light overhead contrasts the bold lines of the furniture, creating a sense of balance that invites you deeper into the home.

A few steps ahead, you enter the heart of the home, the living and dining area. The ambience subtly transitions into serene sophistication as daylight filters through sheer drapery, softening the room. Your eyes are drawn almost immediately to a white marble feature wall, its bookmatched veins rising like brushstrokes against a warm wooden backdrop. In front of it, a muted plum-toned sofa sits low and deep, anchoring the room. A contemporary rug beneath in rust, burnt orange, and blue tones evokes the earthy richness of the sea and soil, creating an inviting yet understated atmosphere.

Nearby, the black glass coffee tables reflect the light like still water, while a sculptural metal side table adds a modern edge. The furniture plays with geometry: curved armchairs and rounded edges soften the otherwise linear layout.“We never aimed for a loud statement,” Mili shares. “Instead, we focused on layering the space to create depth and subtle contrast.”

The dining area continues this quiet sense of refinement. A white marble table with softly
rounded wooden edges becomes the centrepiece, surrounded by chairs with quilted leather
backs that are as inviting as they are sculptural. Behind them, silk wallpaper adds just the right amount of texture, while mirrors subtly expand the space. On the other side, a ribbed oak wall hides the kitchen entrance, maintaining the home’s graceful flow.

From this central space, a gentle turn to the left leads into the private wing, where the master bedrooms unfold as serene sanctuaries. To the right, the kitchen and guest bedroom form a harmonious balance, completing the home’s spatial flow. Each room carries its own quiet character, yet they all share a unified sense of calm and subtle elegance. The soft gleam of white marble flooring ties the spaces together, drawing in natural light and allowing the home to breathe.

Stepping into the first master bedroom, you’re enveloped in a calming palette of greys and
oakwood. The full-width ribbed fabric headboard, framed in wood, creates a sense of grounding. Opposite, a fluted white wall gently blends with the bathroom door, allowing the space to flow uninterrupted. In the corner, a wardrobe and dressing table in warm wood complete the retreat-like atmosphere, quietly connecting the space to the sea view beyond.

The second master bedroom introduces a bolder, yet equally restrained, voice. The
champagne-beige padded headboard, framed in brass inlays and adorned with vertical fluting, evokes a quiet elegance. Monochrome bedding, creamy lacquered nightstands and a two-tone accent chair offer a balance of minimalism and comfort. Across the room, wardrobes in light linen and oak, with brass hardware and a floating marble-topped console, echo the home’s tactile richness. A hint of burnt orange florals adds a whisper of colour, just enough to break the calm without disrupting it.
