RITUAL is a lamp made by Mexican architect Alan Rojas that seeks to illuminate the corners of interior spaces in an “analogous” way through the ritual of lighting a candle.

It is a luminaire that offers the present time by functioning from cylindrical candles that are molded as quadrangular prisms during their process of fusion and solidification. When anchored to the wall, this same wax overflows from the luminaire, molding itself, leaving a mark on the wall, and making it part of the architecture itself.
The final object reveals gestures of the design process, the original conception was made in a virtual model of wood and artificial light. However, the scenic and spatial search directed efforts toward the candle as a light source, honoring the rituals and syncretism that make up Mexican culture.
Being an object that involves fire, laminated steel was the material chosen, which during its manufacture bends and unfolds like a piece of origami to acquire the shape that it presents today.
The piece is made with two steel plates, the first runs along the corner of the wall to support a second that acts as a screen. Both pieces embosom and contain the heart of the flame, directing the light towards the darkness or the sky, replicating the gesture of holding a candle with one hand, and protecting the flame with the other.
RITUAL seeks to shed light on the corners of interior spaces that remain in darkness from the consciousness of lighting a candle, it proposes to put the body and the fire, it is an offering to the present time.
