Set above the parking garage of a detached house in leafy Highgate, this 1st-floor roof garden enjoys the picturesque setting of the lush woodland which surrounds it.
Project Name: Highgate Roof Garden
Studio Name: Mylandscapes LTD

We designed 4 outdoor spaces for the clients: front, side & back gardens, culminating in the roof garden.
We began by designing a hardwood screen with horizontal slats to enclose the space which was derelict and unsafe. The Balau wood continues into decking and cladding for the built-in outdoor kitchen.

A herb bed is recessed into the slate countertop of the bespoke BBQ, alongside a rotisserie and storage cupboards.
We designed unique powder-coated planters, with square tree containers and rectangular troughs which all float above a recessed base and featuring an angled top lip detail.
A multi-stemmed Paperbark Maple adds a focal point in the corner, blending into the woodland backdrop, along a selection of deciduous trees and shrubs for year-round interest.

We selected a warm buff sandstone for the seating area, demarcated by an LED strip light between the stone and wood deck.
The sandstone continues into the wide 2m cantilevered steps which lead up into the adjacent studio, floating on a powder-coated frame, with LED lighting below.

The natural materials and wildness of the plants all meld with the sylvan setting, soaking up the sun in warm tones and understated presence.
