Designed in 2012, with photos by Marianne Majerus this 125-sqm roof garden was fully restored from an disconnected mess into a vibrant outdoor living space for our Brazilian clients. Set atop a modern penthouse with a 360-degree panorama over Central London, the abundance of sunshine, iconic landmarks in a private setting are elevated by 3 seating zones, a custom kitchen, lighting & Mediterranean planting.
Project Name: Strand Roof Garden
Studio Name: Mylandscapes LTD

Renovation included scaffolding, resurfacing, waterproofing, a furniture lift, tiling, plumbing, decking, screens, music speakers, rotisserie, sink, storage, planting & irrigation. The rooftop is zoned into a trio of gardens, each with its own surface, from tiles to hardwood then grass.

A dining table, sofas and loungers provide comfort, where LED strip lighting illuminates the shadow gaps of steps leading up and down from the deck.

Tinted red, the L-shaped outdoor kitchen makes a central outdoor hub for the clients to cook, entertain & serve their tasty cuisine. Architectural plants from the Mediterranean include Olive, Palm species, Alpine mint, Mexican lilies, Phlomis, Euphorbia, Pseudopanax, Libertia, Phormium, Nerium & Lavender hedges flanking the deck entry. Japanese holly repeats the entrance with low hedges into the grass zone.

The Shard, Royal Opera House, BT Tower, Nelson’s Column, London Eye & High Holborn feature in the skyline, framed by an architectural roof garden teeming with focal points, bespoke amenities & opulent lighting. Largely evergreen and low-upkeep, the planting maintains year-round presence which is trouble-free for our busy clients.
