The starting point for this project was the structural shell of a building that ground to a halt and was left to decay for a number of years.

Situated near to the airport and in the centre of Bali’s main destination hubs, this looks to create a strong, identifiable building along one the main central roads on the island.

Catering to the business market in a direction that creates a strong brand and instant recognition, a number of effective design features have been employed. Firstly, the facade has played upon the typical efficient unit layout and overlayed a playful geometric frame for shading and supporting the balconies. This is juxtaposed with a woven screen which together helps to keep away the heat onto the building mass while also creating spectacular lighting effects at night.

Some structural elements were also adjusted to create spaces with a far stronger impact such as the lobby area and restaurant, with their double height ceilings and angular forms. Other facilities include rooftop spa, gym, pool area, meeting rooms, standard and penthouse suites, along with a juice cafe.

The interiors here continue the geometry to the inside creating unique scenes that create a defined user experience. Being able to recycled the structure massively reduces the carbon footprint rather than major demolitions, however, eco features such as further insulation, more efficient mechanical systems and the use of sustainable finishing materials throughout in the form of recycled timbers and strand woven reconstituted bamboo adds to this directive.
