Located 1.5 hours northeast of Spokane, this destination hotel sits at the dramatic intersection of the Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges, offering an innovative fusion of contemporary design and alpine tradition.
Embracing mass timber construction, Humbird is a 31-unit, 66,580-square-foot retreat that reimagines mountain architecture. The bar-shaped structure seamlessly integrates into the slope, featuring a sophisticated palette of exposed wood framing, board-formed concrete, metal panels, and expansive glass surfaces. By leveraging cross-laminated timber (CLT) ceilings and glulam beams, the design creates a warm, lodge-inspired interior that celebrates both structural ingenuity and natural beauty.
Strategically positioned to anchor Schweitzer’s village, Humbird offers a ski-in, ski-out experience with comprehensive amenities. The hotel’s thoughtful layout includes a subterranean parking garage, a lobby perched above the terrain, and three floors of guest rooms with panoramic views of Lake Pend Oreille.
