Architectural Photography

Our modern-day, image-obsessed culture has got us consuming a large quantity of architecture through photographs, as opposed to physical, spatial experiences.

The purpose of photographing a space is not to replicate the spatial experience. Instead, the photographer must interpret and explain the character, detail, and environment into a readable and understandable two dimensions. Architectural photography, thus, allows people to obtain a visual understanding of buildings they may never get the opportunity to visit in their lifetime.

While photographers have long been an integral element of the architect’s work, the creators of these images are largely invisible and not credited.

Entry open to photographers, architects, designers, and design enthusiasts.

Through this International Architecture Photography Competition, Rethinking The Future honors the camera, celebrating varied visual styles and interpretations.

The Competition is inclusive and we welcome the full-time professional photographer and the keen amateur using a mobile phone.

“Architectural photography is the test of time frozen”
-Edmund Sumner (renowned architectural photographer)

Architectural Photography is a powerful medium to depict architecture in a new light and bring out different perspectives often ignored by the naked eye. In this competition, you’re supposed to interpret one of the following quotes through your photographs:

#1 Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light.

Quote 2

#2 God is in details.

Quote 3

#3 Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
