RTF in collaboration with WADe Asia Presents
Writing Competition for Women
Calling all women in design to share their stories about design and architecture for our Writing Competition
WADe Asia, now in its sixth year, has been continually at the forefront in bringing forth women doing exceptional work in the architecture and design space. With top architects and designers as partners and participants, WADe has grown into one of the largest annual festivals honouring women in design, giving them their long-due share of the limelight. Building upon the same ideology, RTF, in collaboration with WADe, launches the writing competition for aspiring young architects and designers.
The competition encourages designers to write to introspect, initiate meaningful discourse and spark conversations on the importance and relevance of architecture and design.
We wish to bring out interesting opinions, unconventional ideas, and unique perspectives about relatively simple topics through the competition. This is our attempt to address the lack of significance given in the design domain to the most essential tools of learning, i.e. writing.
The pen is mightier than the sword, they say. The field of design has until now yet to utilise this underrated tool, which we hope to change. To promote the same idea, we invite women from all design backgrounds to write about design and architecture and share their thoughts.
Categories
We invite submissions in two categories from female architects, designers, architecture/design students and enthusiasts. Participants are free to write on any one or both topics.

Architect of the Future
The world today is in a state of constant flux with changing dynamics of culture, politics, technology and climate. There is innovation happening everyday and architecture as a field is a part of this revolution too. There are newer and efficient construction techniques, there is AI integration in design, 3D printing and so much more. Consequently, architects of the future need to shift from traditional methods to innovative ways of thinking and working. What do you think architects of the future would be like? How will their role change and how will they make more impact on society? Describe your thoughts on the same.
