The living areas and main bedroom suite occupy the sunny upper level of the house, so that the important spaces enjoy expansive views of the lake and the forest. A generous covered deck extends the living area and is the perfect spot to watch the sun set over the lake. The deep roof lends shade to prevent the house from overheating in summer.

With an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, a pantry is essential to keep the main space clutter free. The laundry room and mudroom, complete with doggy shower, are located outside of the Passive House envelope in a vestibule connecting the house to the attached garage.

The lower level features a common great room and bar area with direct access to the lake. This space is flanked by two guest rooms, two baths, and a third swing space which is used as an office and ocasional bedroom. Durable polished concrete floors brighten the lower level spaces, contributing to a relaxed, unfussy mood. The Staycation House was built by the team at Sunbuilt Contracting, experienced Passive House builders who balance serious technical chops with thoughtful execution.
