Stephen King House – In a distant land of Bangor, Maine, lives a man in the Red Victorian mansion, which teleports you to one of the most mysterious and creepiest places of all time. Stephen King is the famous American novelist and the man behind the success of great horror- fiction like IT, The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, and many more.

It is almost hard to exaggerate Stephen King‘s impact. He has dominated the genre literary field for the past forty years like no other author. He is the only author in history to have more than 30 novels that have reached the top of the bestseller list. It is hard to confine him to one genre at this time because of his achievements, which now span across more than 70 published novels, many of which have become as cultural icons.

Without any doubt, Bangor has drawn the limelight to its town as it is inevitably associated with the famous writer, and his red mansion is the talk of the town. Although we rarely even get a glimpse of the King outside the mansion, people worldwide fly to this town to catch a site of the writer’s life and live in his stories. In 1980, King moved into this home. On Bangor’s respectable historic block, where sawmill barons once resided, stands the 19th-century Victorian home. This mansion, which also serves as the King’s residence, has numerous amazing architectural characteristics, some of which are described below.

The well-preserved manors welcome you to Bangor’s infamous “red heart,” which is the ideal setting for several scary movies. Amidst all the large rowed manors of the town one could easily catch the King’s red house with white trim and towering, which makes it old enough to look historic.
  2. The main street, which is broad and shaded by tall, lush trees, is also conveniently positioned near it. This beautifully constructed Italianate Villa-style mansion is on 2 acres of land. The King gave the manor’s dramatic and enormous entryway, which is marked by steps covered in luxuriant foliage.

Despite having a three-headed dragon, an iron bat, and a spider web on the front gate, this classic Gothic masterpiece is still visited by tourists from all over the world who want to photograph the creature gracing the fence. The black wrought iron fence, which is adorned with these animals, is well-placed to depict the horror fiction author’s persona.
  2. Additionally, the area is very private because Hayford Park is immediately outside the family’s back door. The mansion was constructed in several stages, much like how the story was told before concluding. The tower’s initial construction was built of wood; the other half was extended in 1895, and the substantial front porch was added in 1912.
  3. According to Zillow, the home’s interior has a total of 4,952 square feet, five bedrooms, and six bathrooms. Zillow calculates that the home is potentially worth approx $1.5 million.

  2. The writer made good use of the exteriors to advertise his films back then, even though the interiors of the mansion are fully closed off for the King family’s privacy. The use of a red balloon was made by the writer to connect and promote his movie “IT” which gives us a glimpse of what the new movie holds.
  3. This asymmetrical design, which combines Queen Anne and Italianate architectural styles, has wide eaves, corner towers, and two towers—one square and the other octagonal.  balanced composition in itself.

More than his capacity to frighten us, it’s this innate optimism that has made King so popular with readers. He still has the capacity to feel intense empathy for his characters and to view even his monsters as inherently human, even in his worst works.

Stephen King announced later in 2018 that he was leaving and intended to convert the property next door into a writer’s enclave while converting his long-time property in Bangor into an archive for his most famous pieces. The prolific author’s Bangor, Maine home has been redeveloped as a non-profit foundation that will hold the writer’s archives, which were previously housed at the University of Maine and now are only approachable by request. But one can still visit this spooky place and live the feeling of horror like that in the writer’s movies.
