Design

ARAD – Architectural Research and Design created the Paykar Bonyan Panel factory in 2006, which has an area of 10500 square meters. This building, which can be found in the Iranian city of Tehran, can seem to be a high-tech office complex, but it is a factory. The client sought to switch from the conventional construction system to an industrial building system that could accommodate Iran’s massive demand for new homes. As a result, the customer intended the factory to be an example of this objective in terms of architectural excellence in an industrial building system that was distinct from conventional Iranian factories.

A smaller administration building is connected by a bridge to the Paykar Bonyan Panel Factory’s modest production facility. The factory in the industrial city is a component of a collection of non-polluting factories. As a case study for Iranian factory construction, the building was created as a prefabricated system. Although the design is prefabricated, it is entirely distinct from Iran’s conventional factories. It is a 3700 square meter production facility with a 350 square meter mezzanine for the technical management team’s living quarters and a 500 square meter technical office, showroom, and mechanical room that must be adjacent to and with easy access to the production facility. Along with the main structure, there is a 500-square-meter management building with VIP accommodations and reception areas that are connected by a bridge.

The focus was on using a straightforward geometry of space to be able to meet all of the project’s expectations, including the program and the necessary connectivity, as well as to be able to create a fresh atmosphere that turns a globe into a homogenous object both in section and in a plan, as well as the project’s facade. The main administration building, which has a view of the Alborz mountain and runs the length of the structure from north to south, has a consistent glass view. A built-in indirect light that illuminates the whole production site is available in the windows of the production site, which are triangular and positioned below the ceiling and toward the North.

Up to 50 kilometers away from the construction site, every material that was used in the structure was accessible, and it was all produced using the nation’s current technologies. There is a need for heating rather than cooling in the area where the building is located. Local winds induce natural air ventilation to blow inside the structure due to the project’s placement on the site, it is lengthways building in a north-south direction and the designing of numerous apertures in an east-west area. The energy was saved as a result.

Material

The idea is to not only consider the distinctive features but also make the best use possible of a style of architecture that satisfies all architectural requirements, both quantitative and qualitative. Clean, light-colored materials were employed by the designers to provide the impression of a polished, well-kept appearance. Through their ability to reflect more light into the interiors, light hues help to lessen the requirement for artificial lighting. The building’s sky bridge divides its various programmatic components. The factory floor is divided into an administration area and a VIP section to maintain privacy. Additionally, it offers VIP drop-off areas and an eye-catching building entrance. There are mountains visible from the administration end. On the building’s southern side, there is a ramp that can be used to load and unload cargo. When compared to other manufacturing facilities, the production floor’s interior is more visually appealing since it is a large, open space with a larger span structure above. Due to the need for a wider span in a factory, it is a frame construction, and metal roofing was used in the design of the roofs. On one side of the structure, there are glass walls that let in natural light and let the floor’s shadows play about with it. The offices are connected by RCC bridges as well.
