What is The Vintage Interior Style? 

Vintage was created in the mid-20th century with a mix of modern and classic styles. It aimed to create a living space with the beauty of lightness, simplicity, comfort, and  nostalgia. This style is quite a romantic style. Vintage has been defined as a word meaning “old”. Vintage is currently used in many areas, fashion, interior, photography, graphics… It can be called a style for vintage.

Vintage pieces can be used together and an old classic image can be obtained, on the other hand, the use of vintage popular today is to combine with new and modern pieces. For a modern home design, you can capture the vintage interior style with antique furniture, cute trinkets from the last century. However, when using these pieces, the excessive use of furniture and ornaments can create a density and crowd that prevents modernity.

Vintage interior design is old-fashioned and elegant. Aged-looking furniture makes it easy to perceive vintage spaces. It involves the use of old or artificially aged parts. When we say vintage, the intensive use of wood and frequent curves come to mind. 

We can exemplify these such as silverware, mirrored glass cabinets, armchairs and sofas with wooden frames, dense fabric textures. The trend of using dark and pale vintage wood furniture to decorate is very popular right now. Combined with patterned and colorful carpets, the elegance and classic of the wooden floor are the materials that make the space of the room “Vintage” bold. 

Wallpapers are indispensable in vintage interiors. Creamy, warm tones, floral pastoral patterns, pastel colors are the reflectors of this style. As for the lighting elements, vintage classic lamps, lampshades are common, similar to other indoor items. Especially, copper chandeliers are among the most popular options because of the warm, old feel it gives. In addition, the images we often see in a vintage space can be bronze candlesticks, antique clocks, hanging paintings, flower pots, pillows, boxes, book covers, and light, elegant, black and white, or light brown paintings. 

Walls can be decorated with black and white photographs. Pictures in elegant wooden carved frames will be appropriate. Sometimes there are times when second-hand items can be used. All of these radiate antiquity and high aesthetics to the environment. Not only that, but the combination of objects such as floor mats, tablecloths, upholstery with old patterned patterns gives us a very special nostalgia.

Colors 

Beige, gray, sand, cream, light pink, pale blue, pale mauve tones are the colors of the vintage interior style. Deep and neutral colors are often used in vintage style. Materials Since the vintage style consists of old elements, it comes up with more natural materials. Wood, natural stone types (such as marble), and forged elements, natural fabrics are examples of vintage style materials. Wood carving, bronze or brass fittings are also important. 

The materials and design language used in the interior should make space look like it was designed at least 10 years ago. It reflects the trends of the past years. Generally, the use of elements older than 30 years has become widespread.

Textile 

Long and elegant curtains are used in vintage style. Glossy fabrics can be used depending on the design of other elements. Pastel and soft-coloured fabrics are also common parts of vintage designs, although it seems the opposite. For example, the use of bright curtains on the walls in soft and plain tones or vice versa. Curtains can be pastoral, floral, or textured. Laces are complementary and cute pieces of vintage products. They can be seen on tables, nightstands, and sometimes even armchairs. Provided that they do not exaggerate, they get a very organic appearance. 

The upholstery fabrics match the background. Sometimes it can be bright enough to stand out against the background. As in many of them, we see flower patterns on the floorings. If the upholstery consists of pastel and muted colors, this time floral patterns are seen on the decorative pillows. All of these patterns and colors do not contrast with the other elements in the room and create a harmonic harmony.

Lighting | Vintage Interiors

Light is indispensable in every space. Of course, it would be unthinkable to use a vintage style straight bulb. Aesthetics are definitely seen in the lighting element. Natural light is important in this design. Inspired by nature, curves like to be enlightened with natural light. 

Additional windows can even be opened when needed. It can appear quite intense and sultry in the dark. Lighting elements with a yellow color gamut are preferred in artificial lighting to capture the warmth of daylight. However, some lighting with white light is also used in order not to bother the environment.
