Construction administration architect or CA architect navigate construction well enough to make sure that every building by – law and international standard is accurately enforced.
For a layman, an architect is one who designs or plans a construction project. People assume that architects can wrap-up after that. The job is then left to a contractor and there’s no one left to coordinate the work and inspect the execution.
This is precisely what a construction administration architect (CA architect) has to do. An architect is the best for this job, as they can navigate construction well enough to make sure that every building by-law and international standard is accurately enforced. They make sure that the aesthetics too are well implemented; who can understand the designs better than them. They can make alterations as per the issues, and save a lot of costs that could otherwise be lost to unnecessary changes or a contractor. Listed below are some examples of fine execution of projects done by CA architects –
1. Frick Chemistry Building, Princeton University, New Jersey | CA Architects
This multi-award-winning, sustainable building is co-designed by Van-note Harvey associates and Hopkins Architects. It houses 60 staff and faculty members, about 400 students and an auditorium for 250. The classrooms and offices are arranged around a sky-lit atrium having open spaces and pedestrian bridges. Tunnels and walkways connect the building to departments nearby.

2. Berkshire ninth street, Durham, NC
This multi-family residential project accommodates 303 such units. The design is inspired by the Erwin mill building, located adjacent to it. Planned by McAdams Company, it is an example of a building with a façade speaking of the old times, incorporating the modern design. It gives amenities like structured parking, Community Park, Dog Park, and pool.

3. Logan Certified, Chicago
This is a brilliant example of reuse in architecture. The renovation was done by April 2017. It’s a store below and can accommodate 2 tenants upstairs. Façade is intact, of Brisch brick and a vintage tin roof. The showroom is modern and minimal. The apartments are located around a custom courtyard in the center and the building is powered by solar energy.

4. Whole Foods Market, Darien, Connecticut
LEED Gold certified for commercial interiors, this store is on the developing edge of the city.
The firm behind this is B.L. Companies. Several people pass by daily and this market is approachable to both pedestrians and customers with vehicles. The building is remarkably sustainable.

5. Lenexa Civic Center, Kansas | CA Architects
This community recreational center is designed by Water Technology, inc. and JE Dunn constructions. Along with all the features of a water park, it also has indoor adventures like rock climbing, waterfall, a library, a natatorium, a community center, and a public market. It has won 3 awards and provides an ecstatic experience to all age groups.

6. Camlica Business Center, Altunizade, Istanbul
This is a business center designed by the LA studio of Atasehir, Istanbul. It features a transparent interior where daylight could be effectively controlled. There are other techniques and special materials used to make it blend in with its surroundings rather than being visible as a building mass.

7. Unm Pit Arena, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Formally known as The Dream-style Arena, this basketball court was renovated for the second time in 2009 by Molzen Corbin architects. It’s also used for volleyball tournaments and concerts. Transforming its appearance while maintaining its historical iconic pride, made people finder.

8. Heartland Middle School, Edmond, Oklahoma
The school designed by FSB architects in association with Hollis+Miller architects was planned for 1200 students of classes 6th to 8th. This school houses various facilities like tech labs, gymnasium, and assigned courtyards for sports. The campus is very interactive with mobile furniture and large open spaces like outdoor amphitheaters.

9. U.S. Embassy, Valletta, Malta
The building surrounds a park containing bronze-age artifacts. The materials used are indigenous Malta stones and techniques like 90% rainwater capture, solar panels and xeriscaping make the building quite sustainable. This project was assigned to KCCT Architecture.

10. Santa Fe Regional Airport, New Mexico | CA Architects
This airport, designed by Molzen Corbin architects is an attraction because of its cultural theme. Though it has all the modern facilities, it represents the pueblo style; a historical style from New Mexico, in its interior as well as exterior.

11. Megastar Casino, Willis, Oklahoma | CA Architects
To provide the neighborhood with a casino, JCJ architecture, FSB, and Hesman group shared this project. The construction was completed in two phases at the end of which it had about 1000 games, a restaurant, a bar, and a convenience store.

12. Duke Health, Primary Care Wake Forest
McAdams Company had to develop a primary medical facility here. It is a 3-storeyed building with sufficient parking facility, utility, and other amenities of a primary healthcare center. The main challenge was to incorporate storm-water management and sewer systems.

13. Usaid Annex Building, Accra, Ghana
KCCT Architecture added this building adjacent to the pre-existing US Embassy on the campus. It’s a sustainable building in many ways like daylight and water conservation. The facade is clad with exquisite white granite stone.

14. River ST Joe Brewery, Buchanan, Michigan
Holladay constructions and Moss architecture completed this project in 2020. It has a restaurant, an event space, and serves beer made by the materials coming from the harvest on-site.

15. The Low-line, Chicago, Illinois | CA Architects
This urban design module is part of The Lakeview Area Master Plan by Port Urbanism and Moss Design. It’s an interactive space for people, which promotes pedestrianism. It uses solar lamps and native, no-maintenance plants for vamping up the ambiance. It attracts people of all age groups with its creative infrastructure. It has 3 awards for its design.

When architects are in charge of execution, the project can turn out as most of what it could be.
