Established in the year 2014 by Founding Partner and President Craig Chinn, ‘Architecture Design Collaborative’ (ADC) is a design practice based in California with a vast portfolio of diverse projects including residential, mixed-use, commercial projects as well as interior design projects. ADC has a license to practice in 38 states of the USA and is one of the fastest-growing architectural practices in the county. They have completed over 700 projects. According to Craig Chinn, “Our collaborative nature, dynamic work environment, and an engaged and challenged staff who can execute a diversity of project types have made us exceptional. We are skilled in all aspects of a large project: master-planning the site, design the buildings, interiors, finishes, signage, and furniture and lighting so that all of these elements are integrated seamlessly and aesthetically.” Following are some of the most remarkable projects by ADC
1. Office Tower
This office tower, proposed in a confidential location, is a 350 ft tall commercial space designed for a medical group as their new corporate location as part of prominent cityscape. The street level of the building has retail shopping while the lower portion of the tower houses amenities. The majority of the built program is medical office suites. The rooftop has restaurants and lounges with ocean views for the use of the patrons.
2. Antioch Centre
ADC designed a masterplan for a newly planned community development in Antioch, CA. The masterplan provides for over 700 multi-family residences, facilities for senior living, office parks, restaurants, hotels, and retail. This entire community is linked with walkable tree-lined streets and has parks for recreational purposes.
3. 801 Brewster
ADC designed this apartment complex in Redwood City, CA located on a 1.64-acre site. The project is a high-density residential development with six stories housing 250 dwelling units and a podium housing amenities. It also offers a combination of low-income units (20%) and market value units (80%).
4. San Lorenzo Village
This project is a medium density mixed-use project, which is 3 and 4 stories high, located on a site in a run-down suburb of the Bay Area which was underutilized. The site area is over 5.1 acres and it houses 31 units and 12000 sq. ft. of retail space. This project offers multiple building typologies and uses which results in a lively living and social environment.
5. The Quay
This is a mixed-use project with residential and retail facilities, located in the Palm Beach region of Florida. Residential access is separated by dedicated entrance lobbies and a careful parking strategy is designed to provide parking facilities to the residents as well as the visitors.
6. The Jefferson
This project is designed keeping in mind transit-oriented development. Five buildings housing 295 units are proposed, along with retail space near the transit mode. The courtyard is designed to have amenities such as a pool, spa, etc. There is interior amenity space as well.
7. Gateway Square
This is a multi-tenant retail structure that revolves around a central patio for dining and a drive through access, designed with a contemporary design aesthetic.
8. Bridging the Aqua
This project, located in Santa Ana, CA, addresses special needs such as chronic homelessness which include mental and physical disabilities. The project houses 57 studios as well as one-bedroom units along with amenity space which supports health and wellness.
9. Sierra Avenue Apartment
Located in Fontana, CA, this project offers 2 and 3 bedroom apartments housed in a building trio. This project carries the same design language as the neighborhood, with its farmhouse-style buildings. The focal point of this project is the community service center which provides multiple amenities.
10. The Lawn
This project had the intent of revitalizing the outdoor space at the First Colony Mall. The solution found was to convert this space into an interactive activity space with an artificial turf lawn, movable furniture, and a digital screen for game or movie nights. All the elements in this design are flexible and can be stored away to host other events.
11. 1200 2nd Street
This project is one of the adaptive reuse of an existing office building with a historic character located in the Old Town Sacramento. The aim was to convert this building into 17 residential units. The design approach is to maintain the existing historic façade while revamping the interior space into a mix of studio apartments and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
12. Tommy Bahama
Part of ADC’s portfolio is renovations and retrofits through interior design. Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Bar and Store in Colona del Mar, CA was reconfigured by blending the indoor and outdoor space. The aim was to portray the unique brand of Coastal California concept.
13. The food court at Mall St. Matthews
ADC renovated this regional mall’s food court into a contemporary food hall. Detailed attention was given to the flooring pattern and seating arrangement. Design elements were selected to amalgamate into an eclectic ambiance for the customers.
14. The Cloud
The cloud was part of a renovation project at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta, GA. The intent was to brighten a dark corridor where an imbalance in illumination was created due to poor lighting and natural sunlight from distant skylights. The solution deviated from the rigid orthogonal design of the rest of the project to result in a functional light fixture as well as an aesthetically pleasing focal point.
15. Paperboy Pizza
This is a small pizzeria in a gallery marketplace designed to create a retro urban atmosphere. An important part of the design was the custom graphics designed for the project such as the graphics on the walls used to mimic a city alley. An important feature of the design was the way branding was reinforced and the pizzeria’s name was spelled out using bright tiles to attract the consumers.
